Because bats are beneficial, and have one or two pups a year, protection of maternity colonies is important to their survival.  Extermination of bat colonies should be avoided.  The only safe eviction method, for both bats and humans, is the three-step procedure called bat-proofing.  After removal, well-placed bat boxes provide bats sanctuary outside of the building, while still providing benefits to people through insect control.

A Homeowner's Guide to Bat RemovalThis brochure provides the reader with a practical, "hands-on" approach to the removal of bats from human dwellings.
